My Fun Hair Color Journey

Since I was about 15 I LOVED dying my hair fun rainbow colors. I've been blonde since birth and sometimes get sick of it so I like having some fun different hair every so often to shake things up.
As I'm sure all of you can tell from the blog, my fav color is pink. 90% of the things I own are pink. I'm actually wearing pink as I type this.

When I was about 15 I was finally allowed to dye my hair a fun color. The only thing my mom would let me do was get a little streak and at the the time I was a big fan of Avril Lavigne so I got her classic pink streak from the back in the day.
These are the best photos I have to show you. Let's please not judge 15 year old Emily.

This ended up being a little bit of a disaster. I had gotten it done in the States at a beauty school. It was a spur of the moment kind of thing.
Whatever temporary dye they used, It actually ended up permanently staining my hair for about two years.  So, I had a GINGER streak in my hair for two years. Not fun.
You can see the faded pink in this photo here. It got even worse to a ginger though at one stage.

The following summer however, I had gotten my own hair dye to it myself. I had a vision of what I wanted and I was determined.
I purchased the hair dye from Manic Panic which are vegan and cruelty free! I had looked up reviews and tutorials of people using it and they said it faded in about 2 weeks so it was near perfect for what I wanted since it had to be out of my hair by the time school started back.
I basically wanted unicorn hair and with the help of my mom I think I got it! This time instead of a streak, I went for the dip dye and it was probably one of my favorite colors I did.
The hair dye I specifically used was the Amplified Squeeze Bottle. The colors I used were Atomic Turquoise, Ultra Violet and a pink which I couldn't find on the website and cannot remember the name of so it must be discontinued.
The colors were blended from the ends up, pink to purple to turquoise.

 (Thank God for puberty, amirite?)

That faded about after a week to two weeks so I dyed over it with just the Atomic Turquoise and it actually turned out a lot prettier than I anticipated! The purple and pink were still faintly there so with the turquoise over it, it turned an almost royal blue so it was still kind of like an ombre effect.

A year or two later I caught the bug again but this time I did something COMPLETELY different. I actually cannot tell you what hair dye I used because it was so long ago but I did purchase it in a Walgreens or CVS in the States.
It was a liquid in a tube that came with a wand brush very similar to a mascara wand that I ended up not using because it would take FOREVER if I did. It was the kind of hair dye that had a chalk consistency that washed out completely after one wash. I had the dye in pink and purple and didn't have very much of either so I decided to improvise and just do half and half!! I think it was pretty cool even if I only had it for two days.

Because I couldn't straighten or curl my hair, I put it in the braids for the first day and the second day I had the lovely curl to it!

Skip to less than later and I got bored again!
I still had some of that Manic Panic hair dye left over so I used that again! It had been awhile since I had gotten highlights so the growth at my roots was pretty bad and I wanted to try something different and cool. This time, I used the Ultra Violet to dye my under layer and I have to say, I really loved the result. It faded into a pretty cool grey/ silver color and then completely after a couple of weeks or so before it faded completely.

Couple of months into college I dyed my hair AGAIN. Again, using the remainder of the Manic Panic hair dye. My bff helped me do it to keep it even. We blended the Atomic Turquoise to the root where we put the Ultra Violet.

I LOVED it. However, the dye might have been expired because the turquoise stained my hair for MONTHS. I had a green streak in the middle of my hair for quite sometime that was just not very cute.
Here's the best pic I have to show you that GREEN! It was pretty awful but yano, life moves on and it eventually faded.

That summer I desperately wanted pink hair and turned to my friend Aimee Monroe who has had nearly ever color under the sun for some help. She recommended I used Bleach London in Rose and after looking at various pics online and concluding that it was EXACTLY what I want, I gave it a shot and here was the product! I've done a review on this product and another really special one which I'll link here

So, that's all of my phone Hair Dye Jobs almost all DIY to date! I'm sure there will be plenty more in the future. Hope you enjoyed.

Review: Bleach London Rosé Hair Dye & Shampoo and Conditioner

If you follow me on Instagram (if you don't you should) you would have seen that in the last couple of months I've gone from having blonde hair to having pink hair, back to being blonde, to having pink hair again and it's just been a long cycle!
After using several temporary pink hair dyes, I have FINALLY found one that does not stain my blonde hair!
Because of the job I have, I can't have super fun colored hair so when I went on vacation for weeks this summer, I wanted to take advantage of the freedom and quench my thirst for fun hair. It had to be gone by the time I was back in work so I needed to find one that wouldn't stain and stay forever.
After extensive research and asking others for help, I finally found a candy floss pastel pink hair dye that was EXACTLY what I wanted! That hair dye was Bleach London in Rosé which is only €8.99 in Boots and every so often part of their 3 for 2 offer!
With the help of my BFF, we applied about a bottle and a half to all of my hair. Starting in sections and combing it through and lathering the hair and letting it sit for about an hour.
Here's how it looked upon first application:

I really really loved this color pay off. I didn't dilute it or anything. The photo above has no filter on it, just natural lighting, so that was the exact shade. It was exactly what I wanted, a pastel pink!
In the following days, I was spending a lot of time swimming and doing water sports in a natural lake so it faded in about a week,
It faded to this shade after about two washes after being in a lake and everything. I was so happy because you can still obviously see the pink apart from the ends, it was pretty even and looked almost like highlights.
I wasn't done with having fun hair though, I had brought about 3/4 of a bottle with me for a top up. Because I had about half as much with me than what I used the first time I was a little nervous about applying it. So, I did something a little unconventional that I'm sure hairdressers everywhere would cringe at;
I dipped the ends of my Wet Brush into the hair dye and just began brushing my hair! I would start from root to tip and dip my brush again and just try to get it as even as possible! I was hoping to achieve a somewhat highlighted look and cover as much hair as possible. With this method and using the entire bottle, I managed to cover my entire hair!!!
And this was the result:
I was quite happy with how this method turned out!! It looked like a Rose Gold which is a color I am OBSESSED with lately.
Within a week, the color was completely faded and I was back to lovely bright blonde hair stain-free!

This all took place in July of this year. By October, I had missed the pretty pink hair and wanted it again!
When I was doing my research for the hair dye, I came across a review done on the Rosé Shampoo and Conditioner from Sugarscape. Because of my job, I thought it would be subtle enough to get away with yet still pretty cool. So, I gave it a go! The shampoo and conditioner can also be found in Boots and are €8,49 each and again, part of their 3 for 2 deal when it's on.
At first, I simply washed my hair with the shampoo and conditioned it with the conditioner to see how it showed up.
As you can see, there are very subtle hues of the pink in the hair. My hair had gotten quite brassy at this stage so that paired with the pink really made for a beautiful rose gold tone.
As far as the shampooing and conditioning goes, My hair felt felt very nice and clean and soft at the ends after washing and conditioning, so it's good for not only dying!
I wanted to try what they tried in the Sugarscape review where she applied the shampoo onto dry hair before washing it out to create a more intense effect.
So I applied it, let it sit for a few minutes, applied more to wash out, rinsed and conditioned and was DELIGHTED with the result! It was a proper pink!!
Unfortunately I only had it for one night for a concert before I washed it out so the only picture I have is from Snapchat in the dark so it's quite low quality but I hope you can still tell how PINK it is!!

After this, I washed my hair with a regular shampoo and conditioner to fade it out and it still had some light tones of pink but it was back to being very subtle. After about the second and third wash it was gone completely and left my hair stain-free!

Overall, I loved both products. They did exactly what I wanted them to do. The idea of the shampoo and conditioner is AMAZING and I don't know why someone hasn't come up with it sooner! If you were using the hair dye, the shampoo and conditioner would be PERFECT for keeping the color.
I didn't find the products harsh on my hair. The ends didn't break and I didn't find it that damaging on my hair so that is obviously a good perk.
I loved all of these products and would definitely recommend it to my fellow hair color junkies out there! I'd give these products a 10/10.

My Favorite Fall Makeup Look

This season I have had one particular makeup trend that I have been OBSESSED with. And that is the Dark Cranberry Eye. I have just absolutely fallen in love with that color. I think it REALLY makes blue and green eyes pop which is probably why I'm so obsessed with it.
My go to when creating this look is always the same. A really deep matte cranberry on the lid smoked out with a burnt orange and a pop of sparkle on the inner corner.
I always pair this bold eye look with a nude lip and strong highlighter.
The above look was created by the lovely and talented Naomi Cormack (who's Instagram I've linked) in Inglot. I went in knowing exactly what I wanted and being very very particular and she created it perfectly for me! All products used were of course Inglot and there were honestly too many to list or remember. It's the kind of look that as long as you have the shades and the pigment, anyone can create it.

I recreated the look at home myself using the NYX Beauty School Dropout Palette in Graduate and Inglot AMC Pure Pigment Eye Shadow in shade 119 for the pop of sparkle in the inner corner. The eyeliner is Inglot as well, AMC Eyeliner Gel in shade 77 (black). Brows are my usual Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Blonde. Finally, my lips are my new fave, the Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in Exposed
Curious to see if I'll outgrow this look and move into something else now that winter is upon us but I haven't yet!
What's your favorite fall look?

First Impression: Urban Decay One & Done

To begin, I am a huge fan of Urban Decay products. I've given my skin a break from foundation for awhile so lately I was just using the Urban Decay Naked Skin BB Cream instead of a foundation which I was loving.
Unfortunately, my BB Cream was running out and I decided to give the new One and Done product a try! I'd seen a few bloggers and beauty gurus give it shot so I thought I would too. I've never been disappointed with a product from Urban Decay so I thought it was a safe bet!
On the Urban Decay website, they said this about the product:
"Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector combines all the benefits of skin treatment and protection with the coverage of a sheer foundation."
They even go on to say that there is no need for foundation as this product evens out skin tone and blurs imperfections.
They conducted a clinical study which results said:
"a majority of participants had an immediate improvement in the look of skin tone that lasted for up to 8 hours."

Now, for me this is all a load of crap.
One thing I liked about this was that it came in a variety of shades for different skin tones unlike the BB cream which I would sometimes find too tan for me. That was the only thing I liked.
In terms of the packaging, I was very disappointed. I thought it would be a squeezy tube like the BB cream but it actually has a pump:
I don't like this because with a normal tube, you can squeeze every last drop of the product out until it's nearly completely empty whereas you can't with this!
And speaking of empty.....
Upon opening and pumping about 10 times until the product came out, the product ended inside the bottle at the beginning of the letter 'E' you can see in the photos of the tube.
I was sincerely disappointed about this as I felt it was a bit of a rip off to not get the full value for my money.
This product retails for $34/ €32 and for it to come 1/4 empty.... I was not impressed.
Now, in terms of the quality... I am afraid I am disappointed here, too.
I was expecting a lightweight formula with a small bit of coverage and that is not what I got. I barely felt like there was ANY coverage. My imperfections, my eye bags, my acne scars, my pores, all still very visible.
I would under no circumstances wear this without concealer and powder.
To me, it is not a "one and done" product. I still need other products to be finished so I was quite disappointed.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone. I was seriously disappointed and find it extremely overpriced for the lack of quality of it all around.
 I rate this a 3/10

Hope this first impression and tiny review was helpful in any way!! Let me know if you've tried it and what you think!

What's in My Gym Bag?

This has been a highly requested post on what I bring to the gym with me! I may not use all of the products below every time I go but I have used them all at one stage or another!
Sometimes, post workout, I'll go to the pool so a lot of the products are for showering and after showering at the gym!
First things first, bag! Now, I'm completely loyal to all things Nike and this is to be honest, the PERFECT size bag! It seems a little big but I can fit all of my gym gear, towel, and a complete outfit for after the gym. It's called the Brasilia Small Duffel Bag which I purchased at JD Sports for €30 which I find quite reasonable for a Nike product and for one of its size! It's got two pockets at the side. One is the size as you can see and the other actually has a bigger pocket so it extends into the main body of the bag. I put my beauty products in the smaller side pocket and dirty gym clothes in the bigger one for after my workout to keep it separate!

Now, there's the general stuff in my bag that I'll list below that is pretty standard and not worthy of taking pics. Item's I only bring when going swimming are labelled with a *:
Small towel (for wiping down machines)
Actual towel (For post swim/shower)*
Swim Cap*
Water Bottle
Extra outfit

This bag I received as a present from Victoria's Secret, It has a shiny nylon type exterior which is perfect for bringing into the shower with me so it doesn't get wet! It also fits all of my bits and pieces so it's the perfect size for me!

These are all of the products that go into my gym beauty bag! I'll go into more detail of the specific products but first, I'll list them simply so you can use the list for your own gym bag!
Shampoo and Conditioner
Shower Gel
Dry Shampoo
Facial Mist
Hair Serum

These are just some sample sizes of shampoo and conditioner I received from my local salon. Any travel size products work perfectly!! You actually can't purchase these online as they're tester products but I'll leave the link to the Wella website here

This is a full size body wash that was part of a set of my perfume scent from Victoria's Secret in the scent Dream Angels Heavenly. Again, I couldn't find the product online but I did link to similar products above!

Deodorant is pretty self-explanatory. I'd obviously use it after the gym regardless if I went to the pool or not. And sometimes before just to be less smelly! This again, is travel sized and you can literally find anything at your local pharmacy.

Another standard travel size product! This is an absolute must if you're not showering at the gym to freshen up that sweaty hair!

This for me is an absolute must in my gym bag! It's a facial toner/moisturizer/ make up setting spray all in one! It hydrates dry skin which is perfect for after a workout. It revives your skin and makes you feel all fresh and shiny again! It also is nice for after a shower in the gym. It's from the brand Rodial.

This item is completely subjective to whatever perfume or mist you wear! Again, it being small or travel size is essential to just carry around n your makeup bag! This is called Island Escape from the Marks and Spencer's brand Autograph.

When you're showering ESPECIALLY after swimming in a pool, this product is a must have! You apply it to damp hair before sunbathing or swimming and it protects your hair from chlorine and sun damage. It is suitable for colored hair which is a bonus!

Last but not least, a travel size version of your moisturizer! Seriously needed after swimming and showering. I'd only apply this to my face. I like the Simple products personally, but whatever is in your normal routine!

Now, the final two products don't fit in my makeup bag so they stay in my designated beauty pocket of my gym bag!

This is my favorite product of all time. I have naturally very curly and tangled hair so brushing my hair in general is a nightmare never mind after the pool! Forget it! I purchased this at my local pharmacy because my hairdresser used it and it was so inexpensive! The Wet Brush glides through my hair seamlessly and gets rid of all of my tangles! Even my boyfriend commented on how it never got caught on my hair! I seriously recommend this product for everyone! Especially my fellow curly, tangled hair gals!

The final product is wipes! These are Garnier Micellar Cleanser Wipes which is great to freshen up the skin after a workout or before going in the pool! These babies never leave my bag just in case!!

That's all of the beauty products in my gym bag! I hope you found this beneficial and let me know if you use some of my tips for your gym bag!
I wanna know what you guys bring with you to the gym!
Lots of love, Emily xx

Kylie Cosmetics Metal Matte and Gloss Review

I know I'm the worst blogger ever after not posting anything for 2 months. ( I know I suck.) Things got so busy and hectic with exams and work that with what little time I had away from that I used to eat, sleep and relax.
That being said, I hope I can make up for it with this exciting review of Kylie Cosmetic's metal matte lipstick and gloss!
I was pretty skeptical thinking all of the hype and fuss was about the name but I was really amazed.

The first one I'll be reviewing is my favorite of the two, the Metal Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade Heir.
It's a shade like no other I've really seen before and what really made me want it was Kylie's pic she posted wearing it to Coachella:
Just look at the way it glitters in the sunlight, it's so beautiful.
First thing's first, the packaging is amazing. It's in a glass like bottle and the wand is a perfect little heart shaped ideal for application especially on the upper lip.
My favorite part about this product was that it actually smells like icing!!! You know, the stuff you put on a cake. It's amazing. Serious props to Kylie for that.
The second thing that has to be mentioned is that it is SO moisturizing. The feel of it on your lips is not dry at all. And even though it's so moisturizing, it doesn't transfer on glasses or food or anything!
I did find that on a night out, it was gone after a lot of sipping and eating and what not, but it does last a while. So, the only thing I have to say negatively about it is that you do need to reapply every so often.
Here's a photo of me rocking it with no lip liner.

This product is a serious 10/10 for me.

Now, the gloss in So Cute is next! I'm a huge lipstick/ liquid lipstick fan and I am very skeptical about glosses. I hate when they feel tacky and sticky and just ew.
I trusted Kylie though and went for the palest shade so I could wear it everyday and it could become my new Go-To!
It doesn't smell like icing like the Metal Matte but it still does smell good.
It's formula is extremely moisturizing and smooth and not at all sticky, just in your average gloss way. It is the perfect nude for pale people. I wasn't really a fan of it when I had tan on, but I think with the right liner it would be perfect because I have seen it on tanner people looking amazing!
The gloss didn't really stand out to me as much as the metal matte did but I still did really love it!
I'd give it an 8/10.
Here are swatches of the two:

Heir on the left, So Cute on the right. With flash on top and no flash on bottom.
If I was to purchase more shades, I would definitely be more inclined to go for the Metal Matte's and then gloss. And then I think I might purchase a kit but we'll all have to wait and see!!!
Hope this slightly makes up for being MIA for so long! I will definitely be much better about posting! Thanks for checking this out!

Beauty from Within

Being a makeup enthusiast and blogger, I always feel my very best when I have a full face of makeup on, my hair done and outfit on fleek. But being a regular human being, that generally tends to only be one or two days out of the week.
I'm a full time college student balancing college work, a social life, hobbies and I'm about to add a part time job to the mix. So, for me, hell yes I'd rather spend that extra 30 minutes in bed than slap on a face of makeup just to go to college for one hour at 9am.
There is truly no greater feeling than when you spend two hours getting ready for a night out and are super pleased with how you winged eyeliner turned out and your highlight is on fleek.... Although there is.
Where makeup can for so many people give a confidence boost, it is the not the only thing that can make you happy. I found my inner confidence through makeup and experimenting and altering my face to make me feel beautiful on the outside, but that is not where it ends.
In my short 18 years, I have grown to understand that although material things like makeup and shoes and clothes can you make you happy temporarily, you need something more spiritual and enlightening to achieve full eudaimonia.
I'm not going to bore you with my 6 month philosophy college knowledge, don't worry.

It's really important to find things that make you happy. Whether it's going to the gym, playing music, going on a walk, whatever. Anything.

Things that make me happy:
Going to the gym
Playing and writing music
Walking in the park on sunny days
Spending time with friends and family.

That brings me to my next point. In order to really be contempt in your own life it is important to surround yourself with positive people that share similar goals and values with you. I'm not saying a Catholic person can't be friends with an atheist or someone who's aim is to become a housewife cannot be friends with someone who wants a career.
Think of it this way, if you want to go to your best friend for advice, you would want them to advise you to do the right thing. The right thing can vary from person to person so you would want your BFF to have morals similar to yours.
I cannot stress enough to you all that you must find inner happiness with yourself. There is no point in surrounding yourself with the bestest of friends if you cannot be happy with yourself. I want you to think about your happiest days. For most of you, I'm sure your best days were spent with loved ones, am I correct? Whether it was with your friends or your partner or family. Can you think of a really good day when you were alone or did everything by yourself?
Unfortunately the people you love are not always going to be there for you. Everyone has their own lives and own stuff to deal with, including you. It isn't fair for us to completely rely on others for our own happiness. Sure, there are people in our lives who bring the utmost happiness to our days but there comes a point where you can become dependent. At the end of the day when you are left on your own to reflect about your day you want to be able to make yourself happy.
Being dependent on another person for your complete happiness is a recipe for heartbreak. There's going to come a time where they can't be there for you or don't know how to help you and that's when you get hurt. Of course, vent to your BFF about your bad day, seek advice, cry it out on your boyfriend's shoulder but learn how to heal yourself, too.
The biggest piece of advice I could give to anyone is to be the best person you can be on the inside. There is absolutely no point in having the most beautifully blended eye shadow or contour on point if you're an awful person. I don't care if someone is a Victoria's Secret model, if they're a nasty person, their image is instantly altered in my head to ugly.
Be kind to everyone and be the person you want to be.
